The formation lap is nearly complete. You gently press the throttle and violently steer one last time from left to right, trying to maintain optimal tire temperature. You know it's crucial for conquering the first corner at maximum speed—potentially allowing you to overtake the two formula cars ahead of you. They’ve already taken their starting positions.
It’s time to lift off the gas and focus on that yellow line marking your grid spot. While lightly applying the brakes, you try to gain every millimeter allowed by the regulations, perfectly aligning your front wing with the white line that defines your starting position.
Now, you push the paddles located at the bottom of your steering wheel, disengaging the clutch. Shift from second gear to first. Your formula car remains still.
The first red light of the traffic signal turns on. You've done this countless times—you know the drill. Your right foot gently presses the gas pedal.
The second red light illuminates, and the RPMs hit the limiter.
The third red light comes on. The engine now roars loudly as you search for the ideal RPM range for a flawless start.
