The device operates as a digital media renderer via UPnP DLNA, allowing users to access files through the Storage Access Framework (SAF).

It offers comprehensive support for SSA/ASS subtitles, enabling manual font management. Subtitles can be dimmed to accommodate HDR and Dolby Vision content with higher contrast and brightness, while font size remains adjustable.

SUP (Blu-ray) and VobSub (DVD) subtitle formats are supported from version 5.1 onwards. Both embedded MKV subtitles and side-loaded files are compatible, allowing users to select individual tracks or apply packages in Zip/7Z/RAR formats during playback.

Key features include HDR/Dolby Vision support, digital audio passthrough, MKV chapter navigation, frame-by-frame stepping, audio track selection with delay adjustment, subtitle timing offsets, real-time frame rate display, and automatic refresh rate synchronization.

Dolby Vision playback has been successfully tested on the Nvidia Shield TV 2019. Videos can be rotated as needed, and pinch-to-zoom functionality enables full-screen viewing.

The player was originally designed for segmented file playback using m3u8 (HLS) playlists. While traditionally used for TS files, these streams now support MP4 or FLV formats.
