Unleash your keys with Keymapper! This open-source tool lets you customize your device's functionality to an impressive extent. What can be remapped? If it's a hardware button, Keymapper's got you covered. From fingerprint gestures on compatible devices to volume buttons, navigation buttons, and even those on your Bluetooth or wired keyboards, you can remap them all. If you've got other connected devices with buttons, those should work too. However, keep in mind that your device's OEM or vendor might block some buttons from being remapped, and Keymapper isn't designed for controlling games.
You can get creative by combining multiple keys from a single device or across different devices to form a "trigger." These triggers can execute multiple actions, with keys being pressed simultaneously or in a sequence. Whether you prefer a short press, a long press, or a double press, Keymapper can handle it. Plus, you can set constraints on your keymaps to ensure they only activate in specific situations.
But what can't be remapped? Unfortunately, the power button, Bixby button, mouse buttons, and any D-pad, thumb sticks, or triggers on game controllers are off-limits. Also, remember that your key maps won't function if the screen is off due to Android limitations.
Wondering what you can do with your remapped keys? The possibilities are vast, from simple shortcuts to more complex actions. Some features require a rooted device and specific Android versions, so check out the full list of actions here: https://docs.keymapper.club/user-guide/actions.
Regarding permissions, you don't need to grant them all for Keymapper to work. The app will prompt you if a permission is necessary for a feature. Key permissions include Accessibility Service for basic remapping, Device Admin for screen-off actions, Modify System Settings for adjusting brightness and rotation, and Camera for flashlight control. Be aware that on some devices, enabling the accessibility service might disable "enhanced data encryption."
