Paramount Pictures has announced significant shifts in its movie release schedule, impacting the eagerly awaited Nickelodeon films, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2. Both films are now set to premiere months later than originally planned.
According to Variety, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender, which focuses on the iconic Avatar character, has been delayed from its initial January 30, 2026, release date to October 9, 2026. This marks a delay of nearly nine months and is the second postponement for the film, which was initially slated for October 10, 2025. Paramount has also unveiled a new logo for the movie, which you can view below.
No specific reason for the delay was provided, but it's confirmed that the voice cast, including Steven Yeun, Dave Bautista, and Eric Nam, will remain involved. The film, set to be the first of three planned movies in the Avatar universe, will explore a story that occurs years after the conclusion of the original series. It received its official title at last month's CinemaCon.
The release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2 has also been pushed back. Originally set for October 9, 2026, the sequel will now premiere on September 17, 2027, extending the wait for fans by nearly a year. This delay adds anticipation to see how the story of Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo will unfold following the tantalizing mid-credits scene from the first movie. While plot and cast details remain undisclosed, fans can look forward to the Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series to tide them over.
