The highly anticipated Amazon adaptation of the iconic video game, *God of War*, is already shaping up to be a major event in the streaming world. Showrunner Ronald D. Moore recently shared exciting news during an interview with Katee Sackhoff, confirming that the series has been greenlit for not one, but two seasons. This bold move by Amazon signals strong confidence in the project, despite the show yet to premiere.

Moore, who stepped in after the departure of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, is currently immersed in the creative process. "Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of, there's a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore explained. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, and working on that. That's my new thing."

Interestingly, Moore admitted to not being a seasoned gamer himself, though he enjoys classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. His foray into gaming has been somewhat challenging, as he humorously noted, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," illustrating his struggle with modern controllers.

In his new role, Moore is not only the showrunner but also serves as a writer and executive producer. With an impressive resume that includes *Star Trek: The Next Generation*, *Deep Space Nine*, and the critically acclaimed 2000s *Battlestar Galactica*, his involvement is a significant coup for the series.

Despite the shakeup in the production team, Sony's Cory Barlog continues to be involved as an executive producer, ensuring continuity and fidelity to the source material. The series will be based on the 2018 iteration of *God of War*, a game that redefined the franchise with its deep narrative and emotional depth.

Amazon's proactive approach to renewing video game adaptations, such as *Fallout* and *Secret Level*, following their successful launches, hints at a promising future for *God of War*. This early commitment to two seasons could set the stage for a compelling and expansive storytelling journey on the streaming platform.
