"Assassin’s Creed Shadows Faces Another Delay"

Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing its release date to March 20, 2025. Originally set for a November launch, the game was first delayed to February 14, 2025, and now fans will have to wait an additional five weeks to experience the latest installment in the iconic franchise. Ubisoft's decision to delay Assassin's Creed Shadows stems from a commitment to incorporate valuable feedback from the gaming community, ensuring that the final product meets the high expectations of its dedicated fanbase.

The initial delay, announced in late September 2024, shifted the game from its planned November 15 release to February 14, 2025. At the time, Ubisoft cited the need for additional time to refine the game, though later it was revealed that concerns over cultural and historical accuracy played a significant role in the decision. This latest delay, however, is driven by a different motivation: enhancing the game's quality through direct engagement with player feedback.

In a statement released on the official Assassin's Creed website, Marc-Alexis Coté, the franchise's vice president and executive producer, emphasized Ubisoft's dedication to delivering an immersive, high-quality experience. Coté highlighted the importance of ongoing dialogue with players, which has guided the decision to further refine and polish Assassin's Creed Shadows before its release.

When Will Assassin's Creed Shadows Be Released?

  • March 20, 2025

Following the first delay announcement, Ubisoft took steps to appease disappointed fans by offering refunds for pre-orders and providing free access to the game's first expansion for future pre-orders. It remains unclear whether similar incentives will be offered with this new delay, though the shorter five-week extension is likely to cause less disruption among the player base.

The additional delay might also be connected to Ubisoft's internal practices probe, announced over three months ago. Despite being one of the top-grossing publishers in the gaming industry, Ubisoft faced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year due to disappointing sales. The investigation aims to make Ubisoft's games more player-centric, and delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows to incorporate fan feedback aligns with this objective.
