Ubisoft has unveiled an exciting roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, promising a range of new features and updates to keep players engaged. In a concise yet informative four-and-a-half-minute video, Ubisoft detailed its plans for 2025, with a specific focus on the months of May and June. This roadmap is designed to ensure that fans of the latest stealth-action title have plenty of reasons to keep coming back, thanks to a series of free updates throughout the year.
The rollout of new content kicks off in early May with The Works of Luis Frois, the first of several free story add-ons. This update will be accompanied by a Codex update and various quality-of-life improvements. Players can also look forward to significant parkour enhancements and a photo mode update arriving in the following month. Ubisoft emphasizes that these updates are a direct response to community feedback, showcasing their commitment to listening and adapting to player needs.
“Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released,” said community developer Daniel St. Germain in the video. He highlighted that regular title updates will include impactful additions and changes based on player feedback, along with essential bug fixes to enhance the experience across all platforms.
In June, players can expect another free story drop, along with more challenging difficulty settings, enhanced gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear visibility during cutscenes. These updates are highly anticipated by the community, but Ubisoft has more in store, including new game+ support, additional story content, special collaborations, and more, all set to arrive before the end of the year.
The highlight of the post-launch roadmap is the first major DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji, slated for release later in the year. This expansion will introduce new content, including the Bo staff weapon and a new region for protagonists Naoe and Yasuke to explore, offering a 10-hour journey. While pricing details are yet to be announced, those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month will receive this expansion for free.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft’s iconic stealth series to the setting of Feudal Japan. The game has already made a significant impact, securing a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and becoming the best-selling game of last month.
