Every Assassin's Creed Game Tier List

Ubisoft's latest addition to the renowned stealth-action open-world series, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, has arrived, bringing players to 16th-century Japan. With over 30 games under the Assassin's Creed banner, we're focusing solely on the mainline entries, excluding mobile, side-scrolling, VR, and spin-offs like Bloodlines or Liberation. Since its inception in 2007 with Desmond Miles and Altaïr, the series has evolved significantly, now featuring protagonists Naoe and Yasuke in its 14th core installment.

I've taken the liberty of ranking these mainline games based on my personal enjoyment, using an IGN Tier List. Check out my ranking below:

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag remains my top pick, offering the perfect blend of island exploration, ship combat, and a vibrant cast that, in my opinion, delivers the quintessential AC experience. It shares the S-tier with Assassin’s Creed 2, the game that truly propelled the series into the spotlight. Valhalla sits comfortably in the A-tier, surprising some perhaps, but I thoroughly enjoyed its Viking-inspired combat and the engaging Orlog minigame. It's joined by Unity, whose depiction of Revolutionary Paris remains visually impressive even a decade on.

If you disagree with my rankings—perhaps you find Valhalla too expansive or consider Assassin’s Creed 2 overrated—feel free to create your own tier list. Compare your S, A, B, C, and D tiers with the broader IGN community using the tool below.
