Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's popular 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over approximately two years by Frenken, a part-time developer, Battledom closely resembles his initial vision for Herodom.
Battledom features dynamic RTS combat mechanics, allowing players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually operate siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic formations add another layer of depth to the gameplay.
Players amass coins to recruit units, initially equipped with basic weapons and no armor. However, customization is key; players can equip units with various weapons and armor pieces, each impacting stats like range, accuracy, defense, and attack power.
These items aren't found through exploration but are crafted within the player's village. Gathering resources such as wood, leather, and coal is essential for crafting at the blacksmith, magician, and other village specialists.
Frenken is renowned for Herodom, which holds a 4.6 App Store rating. Boasting over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles, Herodom also offers unlockable hairstyles, bodies, crops, and farm animals.
iOS users can participate in the Battledom alpha test via TestFlight. For updates and news, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit, or explore his other games on the App Store.
