The Nintendo Store in San Francisco isn't even open for another month, yet it's already got at least one dedicated fan camping out for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. YouTuber Super Cafe documented his journey in a video released on April 8, detailing his flight to San Francisco. He's set to camp out not just for the release of the Switch 2, but also for the grand opening of the new Nintendo Store location, which is scheduled for May 15.
Super Cafe, who traveled over 800 miles for this adventure, plans to hold out for the next two months to be the first in line on the West Coast. Reflecting on his recent move into a new apartment, he quipped, "I've only lived in my apartment for two months. I like, just moved out. Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares."
Now, the San Francisco store has its very own camper, mirroring the situation at the New York store, where another YouTube content creator is also waiting to be first in line for the Switch 2. Super Cafe mentioned he's primarily going solo but encouraged others interested in joining the San Francisco campout to reach out to him.
As for the logistics of his extended stay, such as accommodations, food, and showers, Super Cafe promised to address these in a future Q&A. The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly new consoles, is a time-honored one. With both coastal Nintendo stores now boasting their own dedicated campers, it remains to be seen whether this will trigger a chain reaction of others lining up. Regardless, these creators are showing remarkable dedication.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025. For those not keen on camping out, you can keep an eye on our guides about Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders, though the ongoing tariffs might complicate things for buyers in the United States.
