A New Game Is Confirmed

The remarkable success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has transformed the trajectory of developer Sandfall Interactive, creating new opportunities for the French studio, including strong potential for a new title. In a May 27 interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Sandfall Interactive COO and Producer François Meurisse discussed what lies ahead for the team after the Belle Époque-themed turn-based RPG.

"Another video game is definitely coming," Meurisse stated. While it's too early to determine the specifics, the team is enthusiastic about the possibilities. "I'm excited to explore the ideas we already have for our next project," he added.

Meurisse noted that the team gained significant experience and new skills throughout the project's development. "Many team members were juniors when we started. We learned to collaborate effectively as a team. I'm eager to begin our next project because we'll be starting from a much stronger position than when we founded the company five years ago. Of course, with that comes greater expectations, which presents its own challenges. But I can confirm we have excellent ideas for the next game, particularly from Guillaume."

It remains uncertain whether this will be a direct sequel to Expedition 33 or an entirely new intellectual property from the studio. Meanwhile, fans continue to speculate about potential DLC content, especially since Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen recently expressed openness to expanding the game.

3.3 Million Copies Sold Within 33 Days

Expedition 33 continues to achieve remarkable milestones, recently reaching one that perfectly aligns with its theme. On May 27, Sandfall Interactive announced via Twitter (X) that the game has sold 3.3 million copies in just 33 days.

The announcement stated, "Seriously. As of today. We couldn't fabricate this if we tried. This is another addition to the growing list of surreal moments made possible by your incredible support. Thank you, everyone." While the game's ongoing success makes this achievement unsurprising, the specific numbers add a touch of magic to the accomplishment.
