Broche praised the game, saying, "After your Expedition, check out The Hundred Line, another great turn-based RPG that was also released last week, and made with love by an awesome team."

This recommendation was in response to a shout-out from The Hundred Line’s co-director Kazutaka Kodaka, who on April 28, tweeted, "Even after you finish Expedition 33, this Japanese cult game will still be here, waiting for you!" Kodaka continued to express his admiration for Expedition 33, encouraging fans to experience both RPGs.
