How to Unlock Caldarus Events Gift Preferences
To embark on a romantic journey with Caldarus in Fields of Mistria, you must first break the Fire Seal located on Floor 60 of the mines. To do this, you'll need to offer four items: a Sealing Scroll, a Faceted Rock Gem, an Emerald, and a Rockroot.
Once you complete the offering, a dramatic cutscene unfolds where the Mines Priestess warns you to leave the area to avoid being sealed with the Sealing Scroll. As your health depletes, Caldarus heroically intervenes, transforming into his human form. He then bestows upon you the Dragon’s Breath spell before retreating to the Deep Woods.
With Caldarus now in human form, you can engage in daily conversations and gift exchanges, similar to interactions with other romanceable NPCs in Mistria. To permanently unlock the Deep Woods on your map, use the Dragon’s Breath spell to access Caldarus' temple, where he can be found exclusively after breaking the Fire Seal.
With the March 2025 update, Caldarus starts with six hearts, which is the current heart level cap. Unfortunately, there are no heart events available for Caldarus at the moment, but future updates are expected to include them.
Currently, you can experience a couple of cutscenes with Caldarus. The first is a dream sequence at the game's start, introducing Mistria's magic system and mechanics. The second occurs after breaking the Fire Seal, where Caldarus saves you from being sealed and reveals his human form before retreating to recover in the Deep Woods. These scenes progress naturally with the story.
Following the update, you can also trigger a real date with Caldarus during the Shooting Star Festival, held on Summer 28.

The Shooting Star Festival marks the end of summer in Fields of Mistria, offering a chance to take a romanceable NPC with four or more hearts on a date to the Summit to watch the stars. Since Caldarus starts with six hearts, you can automatically invite him. To attend the festival with Caldarus, gift him the Star Brooch before 8 PM on Summer 28 and meet up after that time. This will initiate a special cutscene of your date.
During the date at the Summit, Caldarus expresses gratitude for your invitation and shares insights on the stars and the Mistrian tradition of Starbinding. Your conversation delves into the nature of soul connections and the necessity of villains in stories. Caldarus muses about the possibility of having attended the festival with you in a past life, before feeling fatigued and inviting you to spend the rest of the evening watching the stars from his temple.
