The Dark Knight's reign in the video game world was once a near-annual event. Rocksteady's Batman games redefined the superhero genre, leaving a legacy felt even today. Yet, lately, the Caped Crusader has been noticeably absent from the spotlight. A true solo Batman adventure hasn't graced our screens since 2017's The Enemy Within, and there's no immediate sign of that changing. While comic book fans eagerly anticipate upcoming superhero titles, those yearning to don the cowl will have to delve into the past to discover the cream of the crop in Batman video games.

While he featured prominently in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, it's hardly a solo Batman game. However, the Arkhamverse expanded with a new VR entry. This review has been updated to reflect this, with the VR game section expanded and image galleries added to showcase some of the best Batman games.
