A Decade in the Making
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's development has spanned nearly a decade, facing numerous delays. Initially conceived in 2015 after Dragon Age: Inquisition, the project (then codenamed "Joplin") was sidelined due to BioWare's focus on Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem. Furthermore, the initial design clashed with the company's shift towards live-service games, leading to a complete development halt.
The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison" and formally announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the wait is almost over! Dragon Age: The Veilguard is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare for your return to Thedas!
