The developers behind the PvPvE action title Dungeonborne, a game heavily inspired by the hit Dark and Darker, have announced they are ending support and shutting down the game's servers. The project, which lasted under a year, ultimately failed to sustain a player base due to declining activity and a lack of substantial content updates.
While Dungeonborne's Steam store page remains online, it is no longer discoverable through the platform's search bar—only via a direct link. The official reasons for the closure have not been detailed, but the critically low player count was undoubtedly a major factor. Since late 2024, concurrent player numbers struggled to reach 200, dwindling to a mere 10-15 players in recent days.
All Dungeonborne servers are scheduled for permanent deactivation on May 28, drawing the project's brief history to a close. Consequently, the game, which initially generated buzz among genre enthusiasts, will fade away without ever reaching its promised potential.
