The trailer revealed during the Switch 2 Direct concluded with a captivating image of a winged rat adorned with glowing glyphs, sparking curiosity among fans about this intriguing character.

This winged rat, as it turns out, serves as the hub companion in The Duskbloods, akin to the fire keepers in the Dark Souls series. In an interview with Nintendo, director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained, "That character shares a similar role with the fire keepers from the Dark Souls series. They remain in the hub area, providing the player with advice and guidance." He further elaborated on the design choice, saying, "I suppose you could say we tried doing something a little Nintendo-esque in the spirit of the partnership. We tried something cute for a change. Although I will say this character is actually an elderly gentleman (laughter)."
