Today's Mario Kart World Direct provided exciting new details about the game's innovative Free Roam mode, shedding light on its multiplayer features and what players can expect to do while exploring Mario Kart World's expansive environment.

Although we had the chance to go hands-on with Mario Kart World last week, it wasn't until today that we got a comprehensive look at Free Roam mode and its features. This mode introduces a groundbreaking element to the Mario Kart series, allowing players to freely explore a vast, Forza Horizon-inspired world map. Unlike previous Mario Kart titles where race tracks are isolated and only accessible during races, Mario Kart World integrates them into an open world, enabling players to seamlessly transition between tracks in specific game modes and enjoy the expansive areas in between.

In Free Roam mode, when you're not racing, you can embark on a mini-adventure. The world is dotted with hidden collectibles such as coins and ? panels, though the exact benefits of collecting them remain a mystery for now. You'll also encounter P-Switches throughout the map, which, when activated, trigger short challenges like gathering blue coins.

Moreover, Free Roam mode includes a Photo Mode, allowing you to capture memorable shots of your racers in various poses and angles at any time.
