GTA 6 Trailer 2 Boosts Pointer Sisters' 'Hot Together' on Spotify

The Pointer Sisters' track "Hot Together" has experienced a monumental surge in Spotify streams after its feature in the newly released trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, which debuted just yesterday.

In the mere two hours following the trailer's premiere, global Spotify streams for the 1986 hit skyrocketed by an astonishing 182,000%. Although Spotify's data has not been updated since yesterday, "Hot Together" currently stands at just over 250,000 streams. This figure is expected to see a significant increase soon.

“Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else,” remarked Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial, Sulinna Ong. “Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

It's been 24 hours since Rockstar Games unveiled their latest glimpse at GTA 6, and the trailer has already amassed an impressive 77.7 million views on YouTube at the time of this article's publication. The sudden popularity of "Hot Together" is remarkable but not surprising. When the first trailer for Rockstar's latest game was released in late 2023, the featured song, Tom Petty’s "Love Is A Long Road," also saw a similarly massive boost in Spotify streams. This surge inspired gamers to craft various theories about its connection to GTA 6’s narrative, although no such speculation has yet surfaced for "Hot Together."
