Despite the risks of account bans, players of *Marvel Rivals* continue to embrace the world of mods even after the launch of Season 1. Since the game's explosive debut in December, enthusiasts have been customizing skins, transforming characters like Iron Man into Vegeta from *Dragon Ball* and Mantis into a goth persona. There's even a popular mod that morphs Jeff the Land Shark into Pochita from *Chainsaw Man*.
Last week, as *Marvel Rivals* introduced the Fantastic Four with Season 1, a covert mod restriction was implemented through asset hash checking. Developer NetEase reiterated to IGN that the game's terms and conditions explicitly prohibit mods alongside cheats, bots, hacks, and other unauthorized third-party software. They had previously cautioned players about the potential consequences of using mods, and reinforced this message in a statement to IGN: "It is not recommended to modify any game files, as doing so carries the risk of getting banned."
### Marvel Rivals Tier List: Best HeroesYet, the modding community remains undaunted. A new workaround, though more complex than before, has been discovered and is now widely shared online, accessible to most PC players. Modder Prafit, who shared their workaround on Nexus Mods, issued a stern warning: "Use at your own risk," Prafit cautioned in the mod's description.
"By using this, you are circumventing a system that was put in place to prevent modding at the start of the Season 1 patch. While no one knows if NetEase will issue bans, they have not handed out permanent bans as far as we are aware," Prafit explained.
New mods have emerged, capitalizing on the addition of Fantastic Four characters. Ercuallo's mod, for instance, transforms Mister Fantastic into Luffy from the manga *One Piece*. According to Nexus Mods, this Luffy mod has been downloaded over 5,000 times in just two days since its release.

The pressing question for *Marvel Rivals* modders and users is whether NetEase will follow through on its threat to ban players. So far, no instances of bans due to mod use have been reported, but these workarounds might provoke further action from the developers.
Why might NetEase be against mods? Beyond the potential loss of revenue from skin sales and intellectual property issues, mods could disrupt gameplay balance or impact the game's performance. Prafit, the modder, emphasized that their temporary solution should only be used by those with a robust PC setup.
