In an exciting update from Gamescom, Mortal Kombat co-founder Ed Boon shed light on how the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 will differentiate between the iconic characters Homelander and Omni-Man. Fans expressed concerns about the possibility of these characters having overlapping combat styles, but Boon assured that the development team at NetherRealm Studios is taking a unique approach to make each hero distinct.
During his interview with IGN, Boon emphasized the creative freedom they have with these characters. He stated, "Obviously, we could do anything with the characters, but I don’t think we’re going to have both Homelander and Omni-Man have heat vision or something like that." This commitment to differentiation ensures that players will experience two very different heroes, despite their similar origins in popular culture.
Boon also revealed that the team drew inspiration from the heroes' actions in their respective shows to craft their Fatalities. He noted, "They’re definitely going to play differently. The main attacks are going to really differentiate them, but we’re definitely aware of the assumption that some people were making on, ‘Oh, they’re just going to be the same characters.'" This approach not only highlights the unique abilities of Homelander and Omni-Man but also promises an engaging and varied gameplay experience for Mortal Kombat 1 enthusiasts.
