Hello, gaming enthusiasts! Welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 29th, 2024. Today's update features a substantial lineup of new game releases, which will be the main focus, as usual on Thursdays. We'll also explore a noteworthy selection of new sales. Let's dive into the games!

Featured New Releases

Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)

The Famicom Detective Club returns after a long hiatus! This new installment stays true to the original games' style. A fresh mystery unfolds, presented similarly to the recent Switch remakes. Can you crack the latest serial murder case? My review is coming soon.

Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)

Mikhail's in-depth review provides a comprehensive look at the gameplay and Switch performance. In short: build and battle Gunplas! While the Switch version naturally lags behind others in performance, it's still a satisfying experience. Read Mikhail's review for the full scoop.

Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)

Tengo Project continues its successful streak of remakes. Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn is a unique take on an 8-bit classic, offering a fresh perspective compared to their previous 16-bit remakes. If you crave classic-style action-platforming, this is a solid choice. My review will be available early next week.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)

A departure from the original Valfaris, this is a 2.5D side-scrolling shooter. While the genre shift might surprise some, it's a worthwhile experience. Embrace the change, and you'll find plenty to enjoy. My review is on its way.

Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)

I'll admit, I'm not entirely sure what this game entails. The food imagery is stunning, though. Perhaps it involves photography, hidden secrets, or a unique gameplay mechanic. Mikhail might be the best person to investigate further.

Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)

For monster truck enthusiasts, this game offers local and online multiplayer, along with various game modes. Reception on other platforms has been mixed, but it might appeal to fans of the genre.

WitchSpring R ($39.99)

This appears to be a remake of the original WitchSpring, a mobile title often compared to the Atelier series. While it previously offered good value, its price point now approaches that of a full-fledged Atelier game, making it a tougher sell. However, it's visually the best WitchSpring yet.

Depths of Sanity ($19.99)

An underwater exploration game with a fantastical horror twist. Solve the mystery of your missing crew by exploring a dangerous interconnected underwater world. Combat is involved. Well-received on other platforms, it's likely to find a dedicated following on Switch.

Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)

A farming and action game where a vegan vampire rebels against his bloodthirsty father. While I'm currently less enthusiastic about this genre, those who enjoy farming and combat might find it appealing.

Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)

A marble roller game with seventy stages and eighty marbles to collect. Features secret collectibles and challenges. If you enjoy speed and precision-based gameplay, this is a good option.

Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)

A kid-friendly firefighting game with twenty missions. While other firefighting games lean towards realism, this one might appeal to younger players.

Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)

A grotesque action game starring a hoverboarding cat. While the core gameplay is decent, the Switch version suffers from technical issues that impact the overall experience.

Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)

A 1985 Konami vertical shooter featuring a transforming robot protagonist. A charming, retro shooter in the style of post-Xevious games.

EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)

An early example of a video game expansion pack, featuring new areas to explore and the debut of legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro.

The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)

A horror/survival/roguelite game best experienced with up to ten players online. The solo experience might be more niche due to its repetitive nature.

Can of Wormholes ($19.99)

A clever puzzle game where you, a sentient tin can, must deal with worms. Features one hundred unique, well-designed puzzles.

Ninja I & II ($9.99)

Two NES-style microgames with a ninja theme, offering local multiplayer or CPU competition.

Dice Make 10! ($3.99)

A surprisingly fun puzzle game with two modes: falling blocks and placement puzzles. The goal is to create rows or columns where the dice add up to multiples of ten.

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

The King of Fighters 30th anniversary is celebrated with a sale on the entire Arcade Archives series. Many Pixel Game Maker Series titles are also at their lowest prices yet. Numerous other indies are also on sale.
