"Moon Knight Returns, No Season 2 Planned, Says Marvel Exec"

Marvel enthusiasts eager to see more of Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight in the MCU will have to temper their expectations for a Season 2 of the Disney+ series. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, while there are plans for the character's future, a second season of the show isn't on the cards.

Since the release of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy. Initially, the focus was on using TV shows to introduce characters who would later connect with other MCU projects, as seen with Kamala Khan in Ms. Marvel before her appearance in The Marvels. However, the approach has now pivoted towards creating shows that can stand alone and be released annually, akin to traditional television formats.

Winderbaum elaborated on this change, stating, "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future. And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road."

While fans have heard Oscar Isaac's voice as Moon Knight in the third and final season of the animated series Marvel’s What If…?, there's no confirmed news yet on his return in live-action.

Looking ahead, Marvel's confirmed upcoming TV shows on Disney+ include "Daredevil: Born Again" in March, "Ironheart" in June, "Eyes of Wakanda" in August, "Marvel Zombies" in October, and "Wonder Man" in December. However, last week, Marvel Television reportedly paused development on three other shows: "Nova," "Strange Academy," and "Terror, Inc." On a brighter note, Winderbaum hinted at the potential revival of the street-level heroes from "Daredevil," "Luke Cage," "Jessica Jones," and "Iron Fist," collectively known as The Defenders.
