Player First Games has announced that MultiVersus Season 5 will mark the end of the Warner Bros. platform fighting game, concluding on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. The studio shared this decision through a detailed blog post on their website. MultiVersus, which first launched on May 28 of the previous year, is set to kick off its final season on February 4, 2025, and will run until its scheduled end date. At that point, the game's online support will cease, but Player First Games has assured players that all earned and purchased content will remain accessible in offline modes, including local gameplay and training.
Expressing their gratitude, the MultiVersus team stated, "Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus. All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey."

Player First Games has also confirmed that real-money transactions for MultiVersus have been discontinued as of today. However, players can continue to use Gleamium and character tokens to access in-game content until the game's support ends on May 30. At that time, MultiVersus will be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
The decision to end MultiVersus follows reports of the game being a significant disappointment for Warner Bros. Discovery. In a financial call in November, the company revealed that MultiVersus underperformed expectations, leading to a $100 million writedown in their games sector. This added to a total of $300 million in losses following the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in January. Additionally, Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad's departure was announced last week, following a challenging 2024 for the company.
Chief Financial Officer Gunnar Wiedenfels commented during the November call, "We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline."
Despite the game's closure shortly after its one-year anniversary, Season 5 promises to end on a high note. Alongside the usual new content, players can look forward to new characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman will join the roster. Lola Bunny will be unlockable via a daily calendar reward, while Aquaman will be available through the battle pass, both starting next week.
