NieR: Automata - Where To Get Beast Hide

NieR: Automata offers a wide array of weapons, upgradeable multiple times, ensuring your favorites remain viable throughout the game. Weapon upgrades, however, require specific resources, including the less common Beast Hides. This guide explains how to obtain and efficiently farm them.

Acquiring Beast Hides in NieR: Automata

Beast Hides are dropped by wildlife such as moose and boar, found in specific areas. These animals, identifiable by their white icons on the mini-map (unlike machines' black icons), tend to avoid players and robots. Farming them isn't straightforward, as their spawn rate is lower than machines.

Moose and boar appear in the game's ruined city and forest zones. Their reaction to your attacks depends on the level difference; higher-level animals may flee or attack, while those significantly stronger might become aggressive even at a distance. Wildlife possesses substantial health, posing a challenge, especially early in the game.

Using Animal Bait can lure wildlife closer, simplifying encounters.

Wildlife, unlike consistently spawning enemies, require specific actions for respawning:

• Fast traveling resets all enemies and wildlife.
• Traveling a sufficient distance triggers respawns in previously visited areas.
• Key story events can also lead to respawns.

There's no guaranteed "farm" for Beast Hides. The most efficient method is to eliminate all wildlife encountered during exploration of the forest and city ruins. The drop rate is relatively high, so accumulating enough for your equipped weapons shouldn't be problematic.
