Nintendo has officially confirmed that players will be able to utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen, adding a new layer of interactivity to the console's interface. Since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, the gaming community has been buzzing with excitement and speculation about the capabilities of the new Joy-Con's mouse controls. Last month, we received the official word that the Joy-Con can indeed switch to a "mouse mode," allowing players to glide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to mimic left-click and right-click actions, much like a traditional mouse. Moreover, the flexibility extends to using two Joy-Con simultaneously in mouse mode, one in each hand, or pairing one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode.
The latest development, showcased through the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, reveals that the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls can be employed to navigate the Home menu on the Switch 2. As demonstrated in a recent post:

Nintendo has detailed the process, explaining, "If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen. To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown." They further elaborated, "While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus, and use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To revert to using the thumbstick, simply reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.
While the full extent of game compatibility remains undisclosed, Nintendo has demonstrated the technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is slated to launch on June 5. Pre-orders for the console opened on April 24, maintaining a price point of $449.99, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
