Official Disco Elysium Mobile Version Announced, ZA/UM Calls It a 'Fun, On-the-Go Alternative' Aimed at TikTok Users

Following the reveal of their new project, Project C4, ZA/UM has exciting news for fans of their critically acclaimed RPG, Disco Elysium. They've announced the development of a mobile version of the game, which will be exclusively available on Android devices. The goal behind this move is to introduce Disco Elysium to a broader audience and offer current fans a convenient, portable way to enjoy the game on the go.

To make this possible, ZA/UM plans to release the first two chapters of Disco Elysium for mobile at no cost. Players interested in continuing their journey can then make a one-time purchase to unlock the full game, ensuring an ad-free experience. This approach, according to ZA/UM, allows players to make an informed decision before committing to the purchase. The studio emphasized their dual role as creators and custodians of the Disco Elysium IP, highlighting their commitment to delivering a high-quality mobile experience.

Denis Havel, the head of the studio, shared that the mobile version of Disco Elysium is tailored to attract the TikTok audience. He stated, “We intend to captivate the TikTok user with quick hits of compelling story, art, and audio, ultimately creating an all new, deeply engaging form of entertainment.”

Alongside the announcement, ZA/UM released a debut trailer and screenshots showcasing the mobile version of Disco Elysium. The game features new, immersive 360-degree scenes designed to place the player right in the heart of Revachol. Additionally, the mobile version includes brand new audio with full voiceover to enhance the character-rich experience.

Narrative Lead Chris Priestman likened the mobile version of Disco Elysium to "what audiobooks wish they were," emphasizing its design for short, engaging play sessions.

Disco Elysium on mobile is set to launch on Google Android in the summer of 2025.

It's important to note that while ZA/UM retains the studio name, the team behind the original Disco Elysium has seen significant changes. Numerous former ZA/UM members have left the studio since the game's release, with some working on new projects that echo the spirit of Disco Elysium.
