Instead of passively awaiting Nightreign's release, chickensandwich420 devised a challenging self-imposed task: defeating Messmer, a notoriously difficult boss from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, every day. The twist? He uses a different weapon each time, aiming for a perfect no-hit run, all while playing on NG+7.

His daily challenge began December 16, 2024. Initially, he planned to tackle various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies limited his time. Messmer, known for its extreme difficulty (requiring 30-150 attempts for many players, even with top-tier gear), became his focus.

However, chickensandwich420 set a June deadline. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, he'll switch to other games. This means potentially over 160 days of battling Messmer. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.

Elden Ring: Nightreign, a three-player co-op spin-off, was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with a projected 2025 release.
