Just as discussions about time distortions and catching Hisuian Zorua wind down, Pokémon Go has already unveiled the next Ultra Unlock. "Steel and Scales" begins on July 22, introducing sharp new faces from the Kalos region. Honedge, Doublade, and Aegislash finally make their long-awaited debut, cutting their way into the spotlight.
The second Ultra Unlock event maintains strong bonuses, offering 4x XP and Stardust for catching Pokémon, alongside increased Shiny odds for Bagon, Beldum, and Unown U in raids. However, these aren't the most exciting perks to anticipate.
A major highlight is that Honedge and its evolutions won't just appear in the wild—they're also joining the Go Battle League. Starting from Rank Six during the event (and Rank 16 afterward), you can encounter them as reward-track encounters, with better odds on the premium track.
Wild encounters will heavily feature metallic and dragon-like Pokémon, with increased spawns for Magnemite, Dratini, Aron, Noibat, and Ferroseed. Lucky players might even find the first-ever Shiny Rookidee. For dedicated hunters, Axew and Goomy will also be available on the map, if you can locate them.

Raids are getting a sturdy shake-up as well. Honedge joins the One-Star roster alongside Unown U, Gible, Klink, and Deino, while the Three-Star pool includes Skarmory, Bisharp, Dragalge, and Turtonator. Not all are Shiny-capable, but many are, so it’s worth studying the raid rotation closely if you're hunting for sparkles.

Themed Field Research Tasks and Collection Challenges complete the event, offering XP, Stardust, and extra encounters for organized trainers. The event concludes on July 27, giving you nearly a full week to unlock everything.
