Sonic Rumble may not have launched globally yet, but it's already making waves with its exciting Crossover Event #0: SEGA Stars. This event, which is live from now until May 7th, just before the worldwide launch on May 8th, brings together some of the most beloved characters from SEGA's extensive catalog.
Currently in soft launch and available in over 40 countries, Sonic Rumble saw its first pre-launch in Summer 2024 in regions like the Philippines, Scandinavian countries, and Colombia. The second pre-launch expanded to Canada, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa, and more.
If you're fortunate enough to be in one of the regions where Sonic Rumble soft-launched last year, you can dive into the thrilling Sonic Rumble SEGA Stars crossover. The event kicks off with a nod to the classic Altered Beast, offering the Werewolf transformation for free. Nostalgic fans can also get their hands on the Werebear and Weredragon transformations, though these come with a cost. The Weredragon is part of the Premium Pass, while the Werebear can be purchased with regular rings.
Fantasy Zone enthusiasts will be delighted to see Opa-Opa and Upa-Upa joining the fray. Opa-Opa is included in the Premium Pass, whereas Upa-Upa can be acquired through fragments, which cost 700 standard rings each.
Additionally, AiAi and MeeMee from Super Monkey Ball have rolled into the crossover event. To get AiAi, you'll need to spend 729 Red Star Rings. For a closer look at what the crossover event entails, check out the video below.
During the event, you can earn additional rewards by collecting SEGA logos during matches. While it might seem unusual for the event to be live before the global release, SEGA has assured fans that most of these pre-release rewards will return later.
This inaugural crossover event showcases SEGA's rich history and current offerings, blending monkeys, sentient arcade ships, and powerful were-creatures with Sonic and his friends. This mix of characters adds a promising layer of excitement to Sonic Rumble.
You can download Sonic Rumble from the Google Play Store now or wait for its global release on May 8th in your region.
