Sony is phasing out PlayStation 4 games from its PlayStation Plus Essentials and Games Catalog starting January 2026, focusing its efforts on PlayStation 5 titles.
This change, announced alongside February 2025's PlayStation Plus monthly games, was detailed on the PlayStation Blog. Sony stated that PS4 games will no longer be a core benefit of the service, with only occasional PS4 offerings in the Monthly Games and Game Catalog. Existing downloads remain unaffected, and Games Catalog titles will stay accessible until their scheduled removal.
Sony assures subscribers that PlayStation Plus will continue to evolve, emphasizing benefits like exclusive discounts, online multiplayer, and cloud saves. The company anticipates adding new PS5 titles monthly.
