Squad Busters Celebrates First Anniversary with Major 2.0 Update
Squad Busters 2.0 represents a complete transformation of the game. Launching on May 13th, this significant overhaul fundamentally changes battle mechanics, hero systems, and victory conditions as Supercell aims to revitalize the game that hasn't achieved its desired popularity since its 2024 debut.
The update introduces Hero-based combat where players select a lead character whose defeat means instant loss. Combat now flows dynamically with movement, creating faster-paced, more intense battles.
Victory conditions have been streamlined - eliminating the enemy Hero becomes the sole objective rather than total team annihilation. Some observers note these changes make the game resemble an elaborate Brawl Stars variant.
Several existing modes including Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, and Epic Overload are being removed. Legacy progression systems and skins are also being phased out, with compensation planned via Hero Points distribution.
The radical redesign comes as Squad Busters continues struggling to match the success of Supercell's flagship titles. Update 2.0 coincides with the game's first anniversary on May 29th, featuring celebratory piñata events offering chances to unlock Mortis, the new Hero character.
