Ubisoft has officially announced that Star Wars: Outlaws will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2, although it won't be available at the console's launch on June 5. Instead, fans can look forward to diving into this space adventure a few months later, on September 4.
For those who might have missed it on other platforms like PS5, Xbox, and PC, Star Wars: Outlaws is set in the timeline between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The game follows the journey of Kay Vess, a small-time criminal who finds herself targeted by a cartel. Our review gave it a solid 7, praising it as "a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration," but noted some drawbacks including "simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few too many bugs at launch."
While Ubisoft kept details sparse during today's announcement, they confirmed the game's release date on the Nintendo Switch 2. This news helps to update the Switch 2 Games List, offering a bit of excitement amidst the current pre-order uncertainties faced by American and Canadian gamers. These uncertainties stem from Nintendo's ongoing assessment of the impact of new tariffs introduced by the Republican administration.
The announcement came during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled details about the second story pack for Star Wars: Outlaws, named A Pirate’s Fortune. In this expansion, Kay Vess teams up with Hondo Ohnaka to challenge Stinger Tash, the leader of the Rokana Raiders. Fans can mark their calendars for May 15, when Star Wars: Outlaws: A Pirate’s Fortune will be available.
