TownsFolk Unveils Major Update with New Mechanics, Structures, and Compendium

Short Circuit Studio has recently unveiled an exciting new update for their newly launched settlement builder, TownsFolk. Dubbed "Shadows and Fortune," this update perfectly complements the game's enchanting pixel-art style with a darker, more mysterious atmosphere, introducing a range of new gameplay mechanics and features.

Even though TownsFolk is fresh on the market, the developers are not holding back on enhancing the game's depth and complexity. The "Shadows and Fortune" update brings a host of new elements to the table, including roaming Barbarians that will heighten the tension in both campaign missions and Skirmish mode. Players will also have the opportunity to construct eight new buildings: the Altar, the Town Square, the Blacksmith, the Aqueduct, the Bank, the Granary, the Factory, and the Terraformer, each adding unique functionalities to your settlements.

The aquatic environment is getting an interesting twist with the introduction of the rare Whale in the water tiles, adding a new layer of exploration and discovery. Additionally, the update introduces Special Locations such as ancient Obelisks and new Shipwrecks, which will add an element of unpredictability to your adventures.

To help players navigate through the expanded world of TownsFolk, a new Compendium feature has been added, serving as an in-game encyclopedia to keep track of all the new additions. The Exploration System has also been revamped, and players can now adjust Campaign Difficulties between Frontier and Survival modes to suit their preferred level of challenge.
