The first public test server (PTS) for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, offering players an exciting early glimpse into the highly anticipated Update 7.0. In a community update, publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive have shared preliminary patch notes for the PTS version, which include most of the features planned for the 7.0 update. They caution, however, that the final patch notes may differ as the development team continues to refine and address bugs.
For PC players participating in the PTS, Update 7.0 brings a wealth of new content and enhancements. A new PvE mission, "Exfiltration," introduces fresh challenges, while the addition of the Inferno Pistol as a secondary weapon for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes expands tactical options in both PvP and PvE environments. The update also introduces prestige ranks in PvE and private PvP lobbies, adding depth to endgame progression and competitive play.
Customization enthusiasts will find plenty to enjoy with the introduction of new colors such as Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with the ability to recolor Bulwark cloth and hands. Additionally, the rewards for customization in PvP have been increased by 50%, offering even more incentives for players to showcase their unique styles. The PTS also introduces exclusive skins, including the Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and the Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.
Significant balance changes accompany the update, notably an expanded weapon arsenal in PvE, allowing all classes access to a broader range of weapons. A notable change is that the Assault class can now wield the Power Sword without needing mods. Players are encouraged to delve into the detailed patch notes to explore all the adjustments made to Space Marine 2's extensive weapon lineup.
A key gameplay improvement addresses a persistent issue on the Inferno Operation. Now, if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will be automatically teleported there after a brief delay, with notifications provided to ensure a smooth transition. This change aims to resolve the griefing problem where players could previously block progress by staying outside the assembly area.
