Hyper Light Breaker boasts an expansive arsenal of weapons, essential for crafting the perfect build. Every player begins with basic loadouts, but as you delve deeper into the game, you'll uncover equipment tailored to your preferred playstyle. This game merges elements from roguelikes and extraction games, offering a unique twist on the genre. Here's your guide to acquiring new weapons in Hyper Light Breaker.
To arm yourself with new gear, explore the Overgrowths. During your runs, you'll stumble upon various items, but for weapons, aim for icons marked with swords or pistols on the map. Swords signify Blades, which are melee weapons with unique movesets and special abilities. Pistols denote Rails, the ranged weapons with diverse functions that set them apart. Both come in different rarities, with gold being the rarest and most powerful. Just like in other loot-based games, the rarer the item, the better its stats.
When you find a weapon in the Overgrowth, you can either equip it immediately or send it to your personal stash by selecting the Cache button. You can then equip these stashed items for your next run by customizing your loadout before you set off again.
In addition to discovering new Breakers during your adventures, you can purchase new starting gear from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available. To unlock the Rails merchant, you'll need to gather enough materials to repair their shop.
Keep in mind that merchants have a limited stock, but their inventory refreshes over time. If you don't see anything that catches your eye at first, be sure to check back later to see what new items are available.
Enhance your weapons by upgrading them at the merchants in the Outpost. First, you must unlock the Upgrade feature by increasing your affinity with the merchants, which you can achieve by collecting Golden Rations. These valuable resources can be found while exploring the world or by resetting cycles. Since Golden Rations are scarce, use them judiciously.
Be mindful that if you die, your equipped gear will lose durability, indicated by a pip's worth under their icons. Continuous deaths can lead to your gear breaking, so handle your equipment with care.
