The Battle of Polytopia has spiced up its gameplay with the introduction of Weekly Challenges, offering players a fresh way to test their strategic skills in this beloved 4X strategy game. Let's dive into what this exciting new feature entails.
Previously, the game thrived on randomness with varied enemies, resources, and maps, keeping every session unpredictable. However, the new free update brings a more structured competition to the table.
Each week, players are thrown into the same map, with the same tribe and identical gameplay conditions. The challenge? Score as high as you can within 20 turns. You get one attempt per day, allowing a maximum of seven tries per week.
This feature also allows you to experience tribes you might not have purchased yet. The Battle of Polytopia boasts 16 tribes in total—four come with the base game, and the other twelve are available for purchase at $1-4 each. In Weekly Challenges, everyone competes with the same tribe, regardless of ownership.
Absolutely, and here's why. The new mode introduces a League system where everyone starts in the Entry League. Your performance each week determines whether you move up or down. The top third of players advance, the bottom third drop a league, and the middle group remains in place.
The difficulty level also scales with your progression. In the Entry League, you face AI on Easy mode, but by the time you reach the Gold League, you're up against Crazy difficulty bots. If you miss a week, you won't be demoted, but your ranking will adjust based on others' performances.
