Pesten With Cards

Pesten With Cards is a classic Dutch card game, the name of which translates to Bullying With Cards.

Pesten With Cards is a traditional Dutch card game that literally means Bullying With Cards. Similar games are played in other countries, such as Mau-Mau, Crazy Eights, Shedding, Puque, Чешский Дурак, Фараон, Крокодил, Tschau Sepp, or Uno. The objective is to be the first player to discard all your cards. The winner must announce "Last Card" before playing their final card. If you forget to say "Last Card" when playing your winning card, you must draw two cards as a penalty.

The game can be played with multiple decks, including jokers. Each player is dealt 7 cards, and the remaining cards form a face-down stock pile. At the start of the game, the top card is revealed and placed face-up on the table. Players then take turns clockwise to play their cards. Note that if a "Pest-card" is revealed at the beginning, its effect is executed as though the dealer played it.

On your turn, you must play a card by sliding it onto the pile. You may only play a card that matches the number or suit of the top card on the pile. Exceptions are Jokers and Jacks, which can be played on any card. If you cannot play a card from your hand, you must draw a card from the stock to add to your hand. If the drawn card can be played, you are prompted to either play it immediately or keep it.

-Last card

When you have only one card left after playing, you must click the "Last Card" button above your cards to announce it. Failing to do so before playing your final card to win results in a penalty: you draw two cards and your last card remains unplayed. Incorrectly announcing "Last Card" also incurs a two-card penalty. You may press the "Last Card" button even when it's not your turn to ensure you announce it before playing your final card.

You win the round by successfully playing your last card. However, your final card cannot be a special card (see below for details on special cards).

-Special Cards

Whenever a card is played, check if it is a special card. The card's number or type determines the action to be taken. Many variations of these actions exist in the Netherlands, so you can configure them in the game options to match your preferred rules. Available actions include:

- Joker

The next player must draw 5 cards. If that player holds a Joker, they can play it, forcing the following player to draw 10 cards. Each Joker played adds 5 cards to the total draw. Players who draw cards cannot play any of them, and the turn passes to the next player.

- Two

The next player must draw 2 cards. If that player has a 2, they can play it, requiring the subsequent player to draw 4 cards. Each 2 played adds 2 cards to the draw. If enabled in the options, you can play a Joker on a 2, adding 5 cards to the draw. However, you cannot play a 2 on a Joker. Players who draw cards cannot play them, and the turn moves to the next player.

- Seven

You must play another card immediately after a 7. Remember to announce "Last Card" if you play a 7 and it leaves you with one card. If you cannot play a card on the 7, you must draw from the stock.

- Eight

The next player loses their turn, and the following player goes next. In a two-player game, this means you get another turn (similar to the 7).
