With Piston, you have instant access to your car's diagnostic information right at your fingertips. Is your Check Engine Light (MIL) on? Simply use Piston to transform your mobile device into a powerful car scanner. By connecting an ELM327 based adapter—either Bluetooth or WiFi—to your vehicle's OBD2 socket, you can easily read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and access Freeze Frame data, which captures a snapshot of sensor readings at the moment the issue was detected. This empowers you to quickly identify and resolve any problems.

Piston offers a comprehensive suite of features to enhance your vehicle diagnostics:

Read and clear DTCs as defined by the OBD2 standard
Access Freeze Frame data for detailed fault analysis

To use Piston as a car scanner, you'll need a separate ELM327 based device, compatible with both Bluetooth and WiFi. Piston supports the OBD-II (also known as OBDII or OBD2) and EOBD standards. Since 1996, all vehicles sold in the USA have been required to support OBD2. In the European Union, EOBD became mandatory for petrol vehicles in 2001 and diesel vehicles in 2004. For Australia and New Zealand, OBD2 has been required for petrol cars since 2006 and diesel cars since 2007.
