Gameplay:
Connect letters in any direction (up, down, left, right, or diagonally) to create words. Your objective is to uncover all the words hidden within the grid and accumulate the highest possible score.
Rules:
- Scoring: Each letter in a valid word earns one point (e.g., a five-letter word scores five points).
- Word Length: Words must contain at least four letters.
- Letter Usage: Each tile can only be used once per word.
- Invalid Words: Hyphenated words, proper nouns, offensive language, and uncommon terms are excluded.
Bonus Challenges:
- Bonus Words: Discover obscure, archaic, or slang terms for bonus points (though these don't contribute to your main score). Continue your search for these even after finding all the main words.
- Word of the Day: Each puzzle features a special, often longer bonus word. Uncovering it rewards you with two extra hints!
Game Features:
- Daily Puzzle: A new Squares puzzle is available every day at midnight.
- Grid Rotation: Rotate the grid left or right for a fresh perspective to aid your word hunt.
- Hints: After finding 40% of the words, a hint system activates, displaying a number on each letter indicating how many words begin with that letter (0 indicates no words start with that letter). Letters turning orange signify they've been used in the main words but might still appear in bonus words. Each puzzle offers 3-5 hints (lightbulb icon) revealing the first letter and search direction of a random word. Sharing the game link with friends earns you an additional hint!
