These resources have been meticulously adapted from the Sunday School Lessons published by the AIC Sunday School Committee in Juba, Southern Sudan, and are now available for general use thanks to the permission granted by the Africa Inland Church, Sudan. In collaboration with Global Recordings Network Australia, these lessons are tailored to be used in conjunction with the audio visual picture books provided by Global Recordings Network, ensuring a rich, engaging learning experience.
Originally crafted in response to requests from young educators needing guidance for their Sunday School classes, these lessons place a strong emphasis on the importance of visual aids to enhance comprehension and retention among young learners. The app includes a robust suite of features to support your teaching:
- 226 Bible lessons spread across 9 books, providing a comprehensive curriculum
- Based on the acclaimed Good News and Look, Listen, and Live audio visual programs, accessible through the 5fish app
- Convenient title search functionality to quickly find the lesson you need
- Detailed teacher instructions for each lesson, ensuring effective delivery
- The ability to play English audio recordings that accompany each lesson story
- Visual display of pictures corresponding to each lesson story, enhancing the learning experience
- Offline capability for all features except audio, making it convenient for use in various settings
Each lesson within the app is designed to last approximately twenty minutes, focusing solely on the instructional content. The remainder of the Sunday School time, which may include singing, prayer, Bible reading, quizzes, and other activities, is left for teachers to plan according to their discretion. It's recommended that each lesson concludes with a brief prayer and a song that reinforces the teaching of that week. These lessons cater to a broad age group, suitable for children aged 7 to 12 years.
When initially implemented, these lessons were handwritten by teachers into exercise books on a weekly basis. They were intentionally kept concise to facilitate easy adaptation and expansion by the teachers. Each lesson begins with a clear aim, guiding the focus of the teaching. It's important to recognize that while teaching children, it's not feasible to cover the entire scope of God's truths in one lesson. Instead, the emphasis should be on one or two key truths per lesson, allowing children to build their understanding of God progressively.
These lessons are designed to serve as a guide for the teacher, acting more as a 'walking stick' rather than a 'pair of crutches'—they are meant to support, not to replace, the teacher's role in the classroom.
