DownloadVNeID: Electronic Identification and Authentication Application
The VNeID application is developed by Vietnam's National Population Data Center under the Ministry of Public Security, utilizing population data for identification and electronic authentication purposes.
This application is designed for residents and travelers within Vietnam.
The VNeID application serves as a digital replacement for physical documents, enabling citizen identification in digital environments. It supports utilities for developing digital citizenship, digital government, and digital society, while assisting users in completing health declarations and domestic travel forms. Additionally, it helps authorities track potential COVID-19 exposures and promptly notify the public.
Access: By using this application, you agree to grant access to the following functions:
(1) Internet connectivity on your device
(2) Camera access for scanning QR codes on Citizen Identification Cards to pre-fill citizen information, and for scanning checkpoint QR codes during travel and health declarations
(3) Access to photos, videos, audio, and files for storing QR code images required at inspection points
(4) Push notification delivery to your device
Personal Information Collection: Users provide data through health and travel declarations, either for themselves or on behalf of others with consent. Collected information includes: Full name, phone number, citizen ID, gender, date of birth, permanent address, nationality, health status, travel origins/destinations, vehicle plates, and COVID-19 exposure history. All data is collected voluntarily through form submissions.
Users bear full responsibility for their information input and application usage.
Privacy and Copyright Protection: User data is securely stored by the National Population Data Center and used exclusively for COVID-19 prevention and public health protection. Data is never used for commercial purposes or privacy infringement. Information may be shared with Health Authorities and other competent agencies to enhance COVID-19 response efforts.
Beyond these stated purposes, the application developer does not collect or use user information for any other reasons. No information will be disclosed in ways that could harm user privacy under Vietnamese law or application policies.
- No location tracking: VNeID does not collect geographical data
- Anonymity: Community participation remains anonymous. Only authorized agencies can identify infected individuals or close contacts for contact tracing purposes
