Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown!

Love Sudoku? Then get ready for Battle of Sudoku, a multiplayer version where you compete against other players or teams! The goal remains the classic Sudoku challenge: fill a 9x9 grid with digits so that each column, row, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits from 1 to 9.

Before you begin, choose a difficulty level (1-6, with 1 being easiest and 6 the hardest). This sets the initial numbers on the grid, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone starts with the same puzzle.

Game Modes:

The game offers two modes, configurable in the options:

• Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correct number placed is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points for that number.
• Hide Opponent's Correct Numbers: Correct numbers are not visible to other players, allowing multiple players to earn points for the same correct number.

Time-Outs:

Incorrectly placed numbers result in a time-out, preventing the player from making moves for a configurable period (default 30 seconds).

Points:

Correctly placed numbers earn points, with higher difficulty levels awarding more points per correct number. Incorrect numbers cost you points (half the value of a correct number).

Winning:

The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. If "Show Opponent's Correct Numbers" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves the puzzle, though this doesn't grant extra points; other players can still win by making fewer mistakes.

Team Play vs. Individual Play:

Battle of Sudoku supports team play, allowing two teams to compete. Join a team (1 or 2) upon entering a game. At least two players per team are required. In team play, points are added to the team's total score, and notes/filled colors are shared among teammates.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar provides tools to aid in solving:

• Pen Tool: Add notes (mini-numbers) to empty squares. Clicking a number already present removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares (including solved ones).
