Netflix Games Drops Two GTA

Netflix Games is losing two Grand Theft Auto titles next month: Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto Vice City. This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games temporarily, and these titles' licenses are expiring on December 13th. A "Leaving Soon" notification will appear in-game before their removal.

Why are they leaving?

The initial 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games is concluding. After December 13th, Netflix subscribers will no longer have access to these classic GTA titles. San Andreas, however, remains available on the platform.

What are the options?

Fans who haven't finished the games can purchase them individually ($4.99 each) or as a trilogy ($11.99) on the Google Play Store. These are the "Definitive Editions."

Unlike previous game removals from Netflix Games (like Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest), Netflix is providing advance notice. This is somewhat ironic, considering the GTA trilogy significantly boosted Netflix Games subscriptions in 2023.

Future Possibilities?

Rumors suggest Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on future projects, potentially bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars to the platform. Only time will tell if these rumors hold true.
