The complete rules are explained within the app and also available at https://mauking.com/pravila-igre-mau-mau, but here’s a quick refresher so you can be sure this is the authentic Mau Mau experience:
- The game begins with one card face-up on the table and six cards dealt to each player
- The first player to play all their cards wins the round
- On your turn, play a card that matches the one on the table either by number or suit
- If you can’t play, draw a card from the pile. If still unable to play, click “Pass”
- Before playing your second-to-last card, tap the Hand button (as if raising your hand). This signals to others that you're down to one card
Special Card Effects
- Jack: Can be played on any card except another Jack. After playing a Jack, choose the next required suit
- Eight: Skips the next player's turn
- Seven: Forces the next player to draw two cards. If they play a Seven too, the penalty stacks (e.g., 4, 6, etc.)
- Queen: Reverses the direction of play
- Ace: Grants the player an extra turn. You cannot win the game by playing an Ace
- Two of Clubs: Makes the next player draw four cards
