The cards we're revealing today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, nestled within the larger main set. These are reprints of existing cards, reimagined with concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new mechanics or unique cards like those featured in the recent showcases or Commander decks, the artwork spans from the very first Final Fantasy game, adding a nostalgic touch.

Unlike the cards in the main set, the "Through the Ages" cards are not legal in Magic's Standard format, though they retain legality if the original card was already part of it. They serve as alternate art versions, available in both the luxurious Collector Boosters and one in every three regular Play Boosters, which are perfect for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you're planning to dive deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you'll encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige, an Uncommon card, is a reskin of the ever-popular Lightning Bolt, and it's likely to have a significant impact on the set.
The Warrior of Light reprinting of Jodah, the Unifier, is expected to be highly sought after. Jodah is a formidable and widely used Commander, and the art used here is Amano's iconic piece from the Japanese boxart of the original Final Fantasy. Similarly, Amano's art for Final Fantasy IV's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's most powerful partner commanders, which has been reprinted only once before this.
These cards will be released physically as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions becoming available on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan new to Magic, there's plenty to be excited about. Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the FF7 Remake series, has hinted that Sephiroth's design on one of the cards is unique for a mysterious reason, adding an extra layer of intrigue.
