In *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's power is crucial, and anointing is one of the sophisticated methods to achieve this. This feature, while not immediately accessible, can significantly boost your gameplay once you master it. Here’s a detailed guide on how to anoint in *Path of Exile 2*.

How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2

Anointing becomes available later in the game, requiring you to collect Distilled Emotions, which are pivotal for this process. These items are analogous to Blight Oils from the original game and come in ten varieties: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering. The primary source for these is Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random selection of Distilled Emotions upon completion. Alternatively, you can acquire them through currency exchange or the trade market.

To upgrade your Distilled Emotions, the Reforging Bench is your go-to. By combining three of the same type, you can craft an upgraded version, giving you more control over your anointing options. For those seeking a challenge, Simulacrum waves offer a chance to drop Distilled Emotions, though they are less efficient and more demanding than Delirium Maps.

Anointing can be applied to both Waystones and amulets, and as the game is still in Early Access, future updates might expand these options. To anoint an amulet, select any Distilled Emotion to open the Instilling window. Place the amulet in the center box and three Distilled Emotions in the bottom boxes. The specific emotions needed for your desired anointing ability are detailed in the Passive Skill Tree. Simply hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt (on a keyboard) or R3 (on a controller) to see the requirements.

The skills you choose to anoint will depend on your build, and remember, this effect isn't permanent. You can re-anoint your amulet to adapt to new builds by repeating the process, with the new skill overriding the old one.

For Waystones, the anointing process is similar but introduces tougher challenges and better loot. Note that neither corrupted amulets nor Waystones can be anointed.

With this knowledge, you're equipped to enhance your amulets and challenge yourself with anointed Waystones, tailoring your experience in *Path of Exile 2* to your playstyle.

*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
