How to Capture Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Slaying monsters is fun, but sometimes you need their parts. Here's how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds.

Capturing Monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds is straightforward. Weaken the monster, trap it, then use a tranquilizer item.

Your Palico will alert you when a monster is weak. Other signs include a skull icon above the monster on your minimap, limping, or drooling.

Once weak, set a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap. Lure the monster onto it. Once trapped, quickly throw one or two Tranq Bombs. Alternatively, craft Tranq Ammo or Tranq Blades, depending on your weapon.

Capturing the monster ends the quest, returning you to Base Camp.

Obtaining Traps and Tranquilizer Items

While your Palico might occasionally set traps, it's best to bring your own. There are Pitfall Traps (Trap Tool + Net [Spiderwebs or Ivy]) and Shock Traps (Trap Tool + Thunderbug Capacitor).

Craft Tranq Bombs using a Sleep Herb and a Parashroom. Combine these with Throwing Knives (for Tranq Blades) or Normal Ammo (for Tranq Ammo).

That's how to capture monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds. Check out The Escapist for more game tips and information.
