A thrilling new Death Note game, titled Killer Within, has received a rating for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 from Taiwan’s Digital Game Rating Committee. Dive into the details of this upcoming release.

Death Note fans are buzzing with excitement as a new video game, Death Note: Killer Within, has been rated for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 by Taiwan’s rating board.
According to Gematsu, Bandai Namco, renowned for bringing anime hits like Dragon Ball and Naruto to gaming platforms, is likely to publish this title. While official details are scarce, the rating suggests an announcement may be imminent.

This development follows trademark filings for the game by Shueisha, Death Note’s publisher, in Europe, Japan, and the United States in June. Gematsu reported that the Taiwan rating board listed the title as “Death Note: Shadow Mission,” but an English search on the board’s website confirms the game’s official name as Death Note: Killer Within.
Currently, searching “Death Note” on the rating board’s site yields unrelated results, suggesting the game’s listing may have been removed.

Details about the gameplay or storyline of Killer Within remain undisclosed, sparking speculation among fans. Given Death Note’s signature psychological tension, many anticipate a gripping, suspense-driven experience akin to the manga and anime. Whether the game will focus on the iconic rivalry between Light Yagami and L or introduce fresh characters and narratives is still unclear.
The Death Note franchise has a history of video game adaptations, starting with Death Note: Kira Game in 2007 for the Nintendo DS. That point-and-click title let players embody either Kira or L in a strategic battle of deduction. It was followed by a sequel, Death Note: Successor to L, and a spin-off, L the ProLogue to Death Note: Spiraling Trap, both released within a year and featuring similar deduction-based mechanics.
These earlier games primarily targeted Japanese audiences with limited global reach. If Killer Within comes to fruition, it could be the franchise’s first major worldwide gaming release.
