When diving into a game categorized as Soulslike, players are braced for challenging encounters, and *The First Berserker: Khazan* is no exception. Here’s your guide on how to conquer Yetuga, your first formidable opponent in the game.
Although Yetuga is your initial boss encounter, it's far from a walk in the park. After familiarizing yourself with the combat mechanics of *The First Berserker: Khazan*, you'll need to leverage all your skills to emerge victorious.
Yetuga is a fierce adversary, relentlessly attacking when its territory is threatened, as players will discover at the climax of the Mount Heinmach level. Like other colossal beasts you’ve battled, Yetuga wields both melee and ranged attacks, including a devastating leaping slam.
Your strategy should hinge on precise dodges and parries to mitigate damage. Yetuga's arsenal includes:
As you engage, you’ll learn Yetuga's patterns, allowing you to strike between its assaults. Parrying, aside from the jumping grab, not only saves your Stamina but also inflicts more Stamina damage on the boss. Exploit Yetuga's aggression by dodging its charge and letting it crash into a wall, creating an opportunity for free hits. This is your chance to shatter the ice spikes on its back, which will diminish its offensive capabilities.
During the second phase, you can parry all attacks except the grab, conserving your Stamina while continuing the assault. Keep the pressure on until Yetuga roars and powers up, signaling the transition to the next stage. At this point, increase your distance.
Yetuga will then wield a giant rock to smash you, so timing your dodge or parry is crucial to avoid taking damage. Be wary of its new frost breath attack that generates ice spikes; either evade or parry when it comes close. Seize moments to unleash Potent Attacks, and when Yetuga shows signs of exhaustion, deliver a Brutal Attack for significant damage. With persistence, Yetuga will eventually succumb.
Upon defeating Yetuga, you'll be rewarded with 4,800 Lacrima, along with Frozen Mountain gear items and the Necklace of Resolve.
